Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge that we have lost in information?
- T.S. Eliot
Welcome to my website. I hope site serves as a tool for all, including myself, to discover wisdom, techniques, insights, inspiration, entertainment and enlightenment in the fields of programming and design.
Born in Broken Hill NSW in 1976, Anthony Rawlins moved with his family to Queensland in 1986. As a child he was fascinated with the arts and science. He was a published illustrator by the age of 12 and knew from an early age that Graphic Design was the path he wished to pursue. Accepted to the Queensland College of Arts in 1995 he went on to a career in the Graphic Arts in numerous fields from packaging design to photography, pre-press to 3D design. In 2000 he moved with his wife Janell to the Gold Coast to further his experience with website and multimedia production at Ad Com Strategies, an advertising agency.
In 2002, they moved back to Maryborough Queensland to start their family and Anthony moved into Advertising at the Fraser Coast Chronicle (APN) where he quickly rose through the art department from Layout Artist to Graphic Designer for the Hervey Bay Observer and Fraser Coast Property Guide. From 2005 to 2008 Anthony was with Big Ideas in Hervey Bay as lead web developer on multiple projects, designer, and IT consultant. Responsible for creating and developing numerous brands for startup and existing companies, Anthony expanded his talents into video production for DVDs and television commercials.
In mid 2008, Anthony branched out on his own to start his own brainchild sense studios; a company devoted to creating unique brands and environmentally neutral design, and sustainably-sourced print services for a select group of exclusive clients. He simultaneously started a ‘green’ web hosting service where businesses carbon emissions were offset by planting trees.
Late 2010 saw Anthony’s livelihood crumble as sense was robbed, losing him every piece of artwork for the previous 15 years. For the brief tumultuous period that followed he worked in a music store and college as both IT manager and in-house art department.
In a proverbial ‘dusting-off’, he restarted his career by formalising his training in IT by seeking his degree through RMIT and Open Universities. He continues to design, volunteer, freelance, and study to this day.
